Hey Alex, it might. It might not as well. Very hard to look into even the near future on this one. I think that we can hope for an end to the humanitarian crisis and then see what might come next.
It does seem like there is finally at least the possibility of a happy ending.
Good explanation of the coal situation too, though personally I would be reluctant to trust an explanation from the same AI systems that advise using glue to old ingredients in place on pizza, and can't count the correct number of fingers for a human.
Hey Nick! That glue example is from an already quite old model. I'm not sure if you're using these tools but it is pretty shocking what they can do these days.
In any case, I was able to verify the broad strokes which is all that matter - it takes a lot of time and money to switch coal types. If I can get that from ChatGPT / google in a matter of moments then I don't think it would have been hard for everyone else to figure out either. One more mystery of this whole weird process....
The way the Moldovan Government seem utterly surprised by things that seem fairly obvious is deeply depressing!
On the AI, they are getting better at looking credible, but that, all too often just makes the mistakes less obvious. Great that you checked it - the biggest mistake is to just trust what they spray out.
For a well argued take that dismisses the hype, but still thinks they have a role, I recommend Marcus on AI, a very clearly explained substack.
"Surprised" is one version of things. I'm biased to believe that in Moldova there are far fewer conspiracies than there are mistakes and poor choices. At the same time, a lot of this stuff really doesn't add up (see coal). I think there are a lot of messaging games going on that sometimes we see outside as mistakes but may be more.
They still seem to be throwing around a fair number of accusations. So if they are changing their tune it doesn't seem to be a change of heart. But we'll see...
Excellent article, unsurprisingly! Will history record that this was the start of the reunion of Moldova, hopefully peacefully?

Why knows. I do not.
Extremely interesting article and would like to see more!
Thanks Debbie!
Interesting change in posture from the Transnistrian "authorities". It's almost as if they were readying themselves to join the EPP soon.

Perhaps they’re going through the stage 2.5 of grief.
