Well spoken, David. I too am heartbroken that my country's leadership has chosen this path. I also know a great majority of the people do not agree and stand with Ukraine. I respect the EU for standing up for Ukraine and in spite of our President. It is my opinion that President Zelinsky is much more intelligent than our Republican and lean on that faith as I cry remembering all that has happened.

According to an eyewitness, DiPierro DID attend the ceremony at the Ukrainian Embassy. But she definitely did not speak and allegedly left right before the end of the event. If that makes any difference.

Hi Martin, in terms of the larger point I don't think it does make a difference. In terms of accuracy it does to me and I've added a correction / update to reflect that she may have attended without speaking.

It is worth saying that I cast no aspersions on American diplomats who are doing their jobs at direction from DC. This is not a personal failing on behalf of any person but a national shame.

There is another nuance - either UA did not ask her to speak at the event or she/US embassy decided not to speak at the event. Either way it’s telling.

But definitely we should not blame US diplomats working in Chisinau.

Yes, that's the main point. But let's be clear - if the US government wanted to they would be front of the line like normal. It was not the Ukrainian's choice.
