Prime Minister Candidate Alexandru Munteanu began by addressing parliament as follows:

“My professional and life experience has taught me that beautiful words are good for uniting people, but they become harmful when they try to cover up shortcomings. That is why I promise you that I will be a Prime Minister who listens, respects and works — not a populist one. I will tell the truth, even when the solutions require a joint effort from the entire country.

I will be open to suggestions and opinions, because good solutions are born from dialogue. But dialogue is a two-way street — I hope we walk it together. Ideas matter by their feasibility, not by the intensity with which they are shouted. Criticism is useful, but active participation is irreplaceable.

Differences of opinion are natural in a democracy. The important thing is that they do not divert us from the direction set by citizens: a European future, a better life, security for every family.

When and how we achieve these objectives may be debatable, but the strategic direction — pro-European and democratic — is non-negotiable. It was voted for by the majority of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova,”

Following presentations, the period where MPs asked questions of the proposed ministers began and lasted for more than 5 hours. Following this, parliament voted and 55 MPs voted to support the new government led by Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu. These votes represented the whole PAS faction and no others.

Today, we’re going to take a look at the proposed program of government from Mr. Munteanu and what it says about the priorities of his team, and PAS following the elections.
