From Just Security.org's daily news letter

Russia plans to intervene in Moldovan elections and disrupt the Moldovan government’s plan for EU membership, according to documents seen by Bloomberg. The documents show that Russia intended to employ Moldovans abroad to vote, stage disruptive protests, and begin a widespread disinformation campaign on social media. The strategy was agreed in spring and coordinated directly by the Kremlin in order to undermine President Maia Sandu’s Party of Action and Solidarity chances of winning on 28 September. Bloomberg has been unable to confirm whether Russia is implementing these plans ahead of the election next Sunday. Alberto Nardelli reports.

Hi William, yes I covered the Bloomberg piece as well as investigations from the BBC, ZdG and NordNews earlier today. The news is moving fast this week:

I am worried, indeed Moldova matters, just too bad that Americans don't have a clue, well at least 40% of America is in Putin and Orban's corner. Disgusted and fearfful.

The United States is going to be preoccupied with saving its own democracy for a while. Europe has to handle its own problems. Your hypothetical 40% seems high to me, but it could be 5% and if one of them is the President there's trouble. So there's trouble.

No 40% is not high, it is conservative. MAGA is a cult.

I agree about Europe. European leaders are delusional, if they think they can depend on Trump's regime.

All indications are, if you discount his pro forma utterances about being disappointed by Putin, is that Trump is in fact a KGB, or rather a Putin asset, named Krasnov since 1987. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-u4d6Zwdns&t=5s

I don't have any faith in Europe defending itself. It's leaders make a haj to DC to kiss the ring of the King. England debases itself by throwing him a Royal state dinner, and all because of money.

Trump's superpower is American consumption, and that consumption is powered by debt, all debt public and private, government securities to credit cards)

And the heads of state, instead of allying themselves, and starving the beast, can't rush to the Offal Office and kiss Trump's feet.

Meanwhile Putin violates them, showing how weak they are, filing complaints when they should be shooting down his planes, drones and capturing his boats.

Putin and Trump are bullies, and the only way to deal with bullies is to slap them down,if you don't, if you appease them they will continue to bully you, until you submit.
