Hi Everyone! I know that many of you have been waiting for an article from me unpacking last weekend’s elections (I know because many of you have reached out). After an *insanely* hectic month or so I decided to take a moment off and try to live life outside of political news. It’s wine making season in Moldova so that meant harvesting my grapes and making sure that I’ll be well supplied with tasty Vin (Jin) de Casă (house wine) and delicious pickles.
So that explains my silence until now. Today, I’m going to share my top 11 takeaways from this election (in no particular order). Next Monday we’ll have a Weekly Roundup to catch up on the post election news. After that, I have little doubt that I’ll be returning to more takeaways from this momentous election again.
Before starting, I really recommend the recent episode of the Brussel Sprouts Podcast from the Center for a New American Security (CNAS). Former Ambassador William Hill and Laura Thornton, senior director for global democracy programs at the McCain Institute, joined the hosts to break down the election results.
